If you’ve ever wanted a peek into the neighbor’s garden, this weekend is your chance.
The 24th annual WesterFlora Garden Tour will give Westerville residents an opportunity to view a variety of plants in local gardens.
Each year, the Westerville Garden Club holds a free community landscape tour featuring 10 or more of the best home gardens in the Westerville school district. The tour honors the hard work put in by local residents to beautify their homes and the city of Westerville.
The tour allows community members to see the finest local gardens and experience the color, plants and themes within. In that vein, this year’s tour theme is “gardens are for sharing.”
Members of the Westerville Civic Beautification Committee have selected 12 gardens for the tour based on landscaping uniqueness, healthy and diverse horticulture and artistic expression. The WesterFlora Garden Tour has been awarded first place Landscape Design Event by Garden Club of Ohio, Inc. the past three years, and attendees can expect the same quality this year.
Not only will elaborate designs and diverse plant life be on display, the garden tour will also host artists and live music at each stop to further enrich the experience. Gardens will showcase artists working with their desired medium along with musicians performing soft, garden compatible music.
WesterFlora will also host a treasure hunt word scramble. At each site, participants can identify a “hidden treasure” on an entry form. The names of the treasures will help complete a word scramble to earn a prize.
The tour takes place from 1 to 7 p.m. July 19. Garden listings and a schedule of artists and musicians can be found at www.westerflora.com.
