Advertising Sales Account Executive

Join our winning team! If you have great sales skills and a desire to succeed, then you may be the right candidate. CityScene Media Group--publisher of central Ohio's best-read magazines--has an opening for an experienced sales representative. CMG magazines have a 20-year reputation of excellence. The ideal candidate will build relationships with business owners/professionals to help them market and brand their services with CityScene print and digital products. We are looking for someone with the right personality to join our energetic, winning team in our Dublin Road location. Base plus commission and bonus, and full-time benefits. CityScene Media Group in Columbus, Ohio seeks an editor to work on CityScene Magazine, our flagship arts and entertainment publication, as well as the six CMG-owned community magazines and several special projects. Desired applicant attributes include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communication
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in the field
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Strong capacity for multitasking
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Knowledge of arts and entertainment in central Ohio a plus
  • Knowledge of health and wellness-related issues a plus

The applicant should have the ability to:

  • Work with a team of editors, freelancers, interns, photographers and other contributors;
  • Plan out content for print and digital;
  • Write and edit stories on a wide-ranging variety of topics;
  • Play an active role in promotion of our products, milestones and organized events;
  • Work as an enthusiastic part of a small team dedicated to putting out quality publications; and
  • Serve as the editorial face of our publications.

We offer a few internships, but the most popular is the editorial position.

The editorial internship is offered year-round (spring, summer and fall semesters), and looks for students eager to work and gain valuable real-world experience. Those pursuing journalism, communications or English majors are well-suited for the internship since it covers all aspects of magazine writing: interviewing, feature writing, photography, fact-checking, compiling information, basic copy editing and blog posting. 

The internship is paid on a per-assignment basis and college credit can be obtained. Interns work an average of eight to 15 hours per week, depending on their availability, with the time divided over the course of the week as it best suits the intern.
