Ever wanted to try every food truck in Columbus? That might be a little tricky, but the Columbus Food Truck Festival is about as close as you can get.
Returning for its fifth year, the free festival offers more than 60 local and regional food trucks. The feeding frenzy will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Columbus Commons.
New this year, some food trucks will stick around until Sunday, allowing those unable to attend Friday or Saturday to savor the flavor. The Sunday extension will move to the parking lot adjacent to Columbus Commons at the corner of Third and Rich Streets.
Big names such as Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Mikey’s Late Night Slice and Hot Chicken Takeover will participate, but lesser known trucks including Melty Crüe, Dave’s Caribbean Food & Ice Cream, Umami Bites and others will also make a showing.
Don’t worry about falling into a food coma too quickly. The Columbus Food Truck Festival counters this by offering sample items for $6 or less at every one of the trucks present.
A hearty collection of entertainment will also provide a reason to wait around and work up the hunger for just one more bite.
On Friday, the Film Festival of Columbus will showcase classic foodie scenes from popular films. Throughout the weekend, live music from acts such as Angela Perley & the Howlin’ Moons, Forest & the Evergreens and Playing to Vapors will give attendees a chance to relax or dance off some calories. The Columbus Commons Inflatable Zone is available for kids, while people of all ages can browse a variety of vendors and crafts.
