In its upcoming exhibition, Remnants, Creative Arts of Women challenges ideas of worth and meaning by repurposing discarded material.
Creative Arts of Women brings Remnants to The Ohio State University's Urban Arts Space May 26-July 11. The reception will be held May 30 from 6-8 p.m.; light refreshments will be provided. Urban Arts Space is free and accessible to all and is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, with extended hours on Thursday until 8 p.m.
Remnants will fill the entire Urban Arts Space with art and performances featuring the repurposed discarded materials. As a whole, Remnants considers the reasoning and effects of giving value and significance to objects, places and people. Though all members of the collective take on the challenge of utilizing abandoned materials for the exhibition, all artists bring their own unique style and ideas through their individual work.
Creative Arts of Women – a collective comprised of visual and performance artists, writers and art supporters and appreciators – focuses on nurturing and supporting women in their artistic goals. All members share a passion for art and creativity. Remnants shows the group uniting to create art out of abandoned materials in order to show the potential of any material, including waste.
