BIA Parade of Homes patrons can expect the unexpected when they visit the 2016 Foundation Home built by premier central Ohio custom builder, Bob Webb Homes.
From the moment you walk through the door, you’ll see a perfect partnership of luxury living and family-focused style.
Everywhere you look you’ll find another surprise, from the glass-and-steel encased study, to the well-planned family foyer, to the spectacular steel and glass chandeliers in nearly every room.
When you visit this year’s Foundation Home, you can expect Bob Webb quality and style. And most of all, you can expect the unexpected.
Unexpected Design
This gorgeous home is both striking and stately with a modern-farmhouse-meets-coastal-cottage vision and vibe. As a parade visitor, you’ll experience a thoughtfully designed home that is the perfect fusion of luxury living and family-focused inspiration.
Stroll up the winding stone walkway, and you’ll see a home that exudes character and strength.
As you walk toward the porch, take it all in: The rich gray coastal-style shingle shake architecture, the shades-of-grey natural stone base that lends texture and strength. Note the graceful columns and the crisp white trim that punctuates every architectural detail.
And inside? You’ll find an eclectic mix of design choices that break all the rules with spectacular results.
Take the family study, for example. Two walls of glass/steel grid surround the room for an unconventional take on a typically conventional room.
“I’ve been dreaming about these doors for 10 years,” says Becky Webb, president of Bob Webb Homes. “They bring such character to the room. You can be in there working and still feel like you’re present with the rest of the family. And just check out how great they look.”
Heather Wilcox, interior designer for the Foundation Home, says Parade visitors will fall in love with the family foyer.
“It’s really a clever drop-and-go room to keep coats, boots and backpacks organized and out of sight. Hooks, cubbies and drawers keep family members organized. There are even designated charging stations for electronics. What’s not to love about that?” Wilcox says. “I especially love the brick floors and the chalkboard message center and, oh yes, the pet center with pull-out feeding drawers for the dogs.”
Unexpected Features
Where do we start? Perhaps with the striking steel and glass light fixtures and chandeliers artfully presented in nearly every room.
Or maybe we should mention the eclectic melding of classic design with industrial, farmhouse and coastal accents and details.
Then there are the convenience features, such as the two laundry stations – a huge laundry studio downstairs and a convenient laundry closet upstairs – or the unexpected back staircase that leads from the garage to the lower level living area.
And speaking of the lower level living area, who would ever expect to see such luxury underground? The modern lateral fireplace, the industrial-look built-ins, the grand pub that defies description.
“This pub is party-ready. I love the brick wall, the open industrial-pipe shelving, and have you seen that island?” Webb says. “It even has what we call an ‘entertainment sink’ with movable sections to accommodate wine bottles, condiments and snacks. Now that’s unexpected.”
Unexpected Materials
When the design elements started coming together for this year’s Foundation Home, the mission became clear.
“We wanted to pique interest with an eclectic mix of tones, textures and materials,” says Wilcox. “And I think we’ve hit a home run.”
Throughout the home, you’ll see traditional, modern, farmhouse, coastal and industrial touches – things like steel with glass, stone with wood, or industrial piping accents for bookcases and built-ins.
You’ll also see shiplap walls and rough-saw beams, as well as textured brick walls, floors and accents that repeat throughout the home on all three floors.
“Parade guests are going to be surprised when they see how beautifully it all comes together,” Wilcox says. “This is one of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever worked on. Everything about it is thoughtful, expressive and definitely unexpected.”
