Ingredients
- 2 oranges, sliced
- 2 sweet apples, sliced
- 2 cups tequila
- 1 cup orange liqueur
- 1 bottle Rioja (or other light red wine)
- 9 oz. lime juice
- Kosher salt
Instructions
Combine fruit, 4 oz. tequila and 4 oz. orange liqueur in a pitcher, then add wine. Stir to combine ingredients. Refrigerate overnight, or at least 4-6 hours to extract flavors from fruit.
After refrigeration, get out plates wider than a margarita glass.
On one, pour 1 oz. lime juice, and on the other, spread out kosher salt. Dip the rim of each glass into the lime juice, then onto the salt, to form a salt rim. Pour 2 oz. sangria into each glass.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add 1.5 oz. tequila, 0.5 oz. orange liqueur and 1 oz. lime juice. Shake, then strain into one glass. Repeat for remaining glasses and serve.
Makes 8 servings.
