The Center for Applied Plant Sciences (CAPS) and Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens host this public forum as a part of the national Science Foundation-funded Building with Biology project. The speakers will explore the applications and impacts of CRISPR, a relatively new technology for genetic engineering, and, through audience discussion consider how new technologies in genetic science impact society.
Dr. Anna Dobritsa, Assistant Professor, Department of Molecular Genetics, will provide an overview of CRISPR technology and its application in plant research. Dr. Katrina Cornish, Endowed Chair and Ohio Research Scholar, Bioemergent Materials, will discuss the societal and ethical implications of CRISPR and other similar technologies.
