Porcelain Perspectives: Gallery Exhibit
to
Free gallery opening and artist reception for “Porcelain Perspectives,” on Friday, August 12, 5 – 7 p.m., in The Works’ Main Gallery, 55 S. 1st Street, Newark. The exhibit is curated by Sherrie Riley Hawk, owner of the Sherrie Gallerie located in the Short North Arts District.
"I wanted to bring an exhibition to The Works that would showcase the imagination and talent of artists working in porcelain, a fine, wet clay,” said Hawk. “The unique properties of porcelain allow the artist to sculpt in great detail, play with translucency, or throw silky smooth surfaces. The artworks selected offer the viewer insight into the wide range of expression this medium offers."
Contributing artists: Ingrid Bathe, Curtis Benzle, Elaine Coleman, Tom Coleman, Scott Dooley, Jack Earl, Chris Gustin, Calvin Ma, Jennifer McCurdy, Claire Prenton, and Keith Schneider.
“Porcelain Perspectives” will be on display August 12 through October 29. Gallery admission is free and open to the public, Tuesday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Visit www.attheworks.org for more. Learn more about the Sherrie Gallerie at www.sherriegallerie.com
