The 10th Annual Westerville Area Chamber ‘Taste of Westerville’ event held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at The Lakes Golf and Country Club had a sold out crowd, with more than 300 in attendance! Local business owners, community leaders and Westerville residents sampled delicious dishes from local food providers including steak skewers, shrimp and grits, crab cakes and coconut chicken pot stickers. Food samples were complemented with red or white wines from around the world, mixed drinks and beer.
Attendees enjoyed signature dishes provided by 20 different food vendors including: Bel Lago Waterfront Dining, Chef Honda, Cheryl’s & Co., Chocolaterie Stam, City Barbeque, Coldstone Creamery, Earth Fare, Friendship Village of Columbus, Giammarco’s Pizza & Pasta, Gigi’s Cupcakes, Jason’s Deli, MCL Restaurant & Bakery, Mitchell’s Steakhouse, Nicole’s Catering, Old Bag of Nails Pub, Polaris Grill, Sandman Gourmet Deli & Catering, Skyline Chili, Starbucks, and The Lakes Golf and Country Club.
New to this year’s event: Guests enjoyed samples of beers from local favorite Elevator Brewing Co. and experienced the tropical tastes of a new beer to the local market, Kona Brewing Co. Also back this year by popular demand was Watershed Distillery, offering samples of bourbon and bourbon barrel gin and mixed drinks such as blueberry basil lemonade (with vodka) and watershed gin and juice.
“I really enjoyed the variety of food and the relaxed and inviting atmosphere,” states Kyle Kridler, City of Westerville. “The food and drink was tasty and the patrons, vendors and wait staff were wonderful; I would definitely attend again.”
The Taste of Westerville also featured food critics who sampled food from every vendor and chose which dishes stood out above the rest. Garth Bishop, Westerville Magazine, Mark Buckingham, Sunny 95 and Mindy Drayer, NBC 4 served as the food critics.
