When Westerville resident Soutchay Soungpradith was one of four artists selected for his work for Promowest Productions’ 30th anniversary contest, he ended up getting a bit more than he bargained for: A signed guitar from one of his musical idols.
Soungpradith, an artist and musician, had created an acrylic painting inspired by Carlos Santana, whose tour included visiting Columbus. When he met Santana and gave him his painting, the guitarist reciprocated by giving him a signed guitar. Soungpradith ended up winning the contest, along with three other artists. A banner of the painting now hangs on the side of A&R Music Bar.
Watch Soungpradith play the guitar in the video below. In his blog post, he says, "The next day, I started writing a song, and I knew I had to use it as another way of showing my appreciation, since words can only reach so far at times." You can also visit the original blog post here.
