The Columbus Metropolitan Library is welcoming children and adults to its 23 locations across central Ohio for a variety of fun summer activities. Those enrolled in the Summer Reading Club can register for free for workshops, performances and more. Some of this week’s highlights include magic, zombies and man’s best friend.
Kids ages 2 to 7 can witness a spellbinding magic show on July 19 at the New Albany branch during Super Duper Magic with Erica Carlson and her hedgehog, Sedgwick.
Musically-inclined teens will get special access to the Main Library’s new recording studio on July 20 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Learn to survive the zombie apocalypse on July 21 at the Northern Lights Branch with zombie fun facts, a maze and a survival guide workshop. Attendees will also learn the Zombie Dance.
The Karl Road Branch will be hosting its own kid-friendly block party on July 22. Kids ages 6 to 11 can come create their own LEGO structures and play board games.
The Parsons Branch will be welcoming some special guests for its Saturday Reading Buddies event; dogs trained by the 4-H PetPALs program. Kids ages 5 to 11 will get to interact and share a story with the dogs.
In addition to participating in fun weekly activities, the Summer Reading Club is a great way to encourage kids, teens and adults to explore new worlds and foster a love of reading. Children and teens can earn prizes and their own book to take home and treasure. Signing up is free with a library card.
