For its April show, the Brandt-Roberts Galleries will feature works from a unique collaboration between an artist and one of his collectors.
Cincinnati-based artist Stuart Fink’s works will be on display at the Brandt-Roberts Galleries throughout April, with its premiere on April 8. The retrospective exhibit, titled Forged Union, will present Fink’s portfolio from the past six decades, including large and small-scale assemblages, sculptures and paintings.
A recent onset of a nervous system disorder has left Fink unable to produce sculptures, and has limited him to the use of simply two tools in his work: a compass and a rule. However, Fink’s ability to create sculptures was restored when he met with a Brandt-Roberts Galleries collector, who is affiliated with a Columbus manufacturing company. With this resource, Fink’s drawings have been brought to life in 3D once again.
Because the sculptures are based off of Fink’s drawings and the result of a collaboration, the sculptures have been scaled down from his previous works like Cincinnati’s Kadetz Fountain, a large fountain that mimics the urban landscape in which it lives. Still, his works maintain the same air of ambition and use similar elements such as deconstructed shapes.
Recent exhibitions at the Brandt-Roberts Galleries include Seasonal Awakenings: Dormant No More and Mark Gingerich: Distinctive.
Stuart Fink: Forged Union will have an opening reception with the artist Friday, April 8th from 5:30-8 p.m. and will be on remain in the galleries through Sunday, May 8. The exhibition is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Michelle Brandt at (614) 223-1655 or visit the Brandt-Roberts Galleries.
