As a part of its 28th season, Six String Concerts presents Tracy Grammer, opened by Angela Easterling.
Grammer and Easterling will be performing on Friday, April 15 at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Ave, at 8 p.m.
Grammer, one of folk music’s most beloved artists, is known for her spring water-clear alto, perfectly intoned violin and guitar playing. Her music tells a story on stage with ease and charisma.
She rose to fame as a part of a duo with the late Dave Carter, who suffered a fatal heart attack while on tour in July 2002. She has since made a name for herself while still keeping Carter’s legacy alive by continuing to perform his music.
“Tracy Grammer is a brilliant artist and unique individual. Her voice is distinctive, as is her mastery over the instruments she plays,” says folk singer and activist Joan Baez.
Opener Angela Easterling’s debut album, Earning Her Wings, was awarded the Americana Pick of the Year by Smart Choice Music. Her most recent album, Common Law Wife, discusses her marriage, motherhood and subjects ranging from murder to civil rights.
Six String Concerts is an organization dedicated to bringing acoustic music to the central Ohio area. They formed in 1988 and since have grown into a nationally-recognized concert series.
Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door. Student and children’s tickets can be purchased for $15 and $5, respectively.
On Saturday, April 16th at 10 a.m., Grammer will have a special family concert at the Columbus Performing Arts Center full of singing, dancing and silliness for all ages. All tickets for the family concert are $5 and cookie and hot chocolate will be provided.
