While most will be relaxing at a family cookout or watching fireworks on the Fourth of July, seven men and women will be spending their Independence Day biking over 300 miles to raise money for charities that provide services for veterans.
Todd Reigle founded Honor Ride Ohio with the intention of creating a cross state bike ride to raise funds for various organizations.
This year’s ride will begin on July 4 and conclude on July 7. Riders will travel along the Ohio to Erie Trail, which runs from Cleveland to Cincinnati.
Riders will include Reigle, along with veterans Matt Miller (USMC), Adrienne Corna (Ohio National Guard), Mick Karp (Army), Daniel Hutchinson (Army), Aaron Strange (Army) and Lt. Colonel Matt Leach.
Honor Ride Ohio is powered by Complete Nutrition. The ride paid for through in-kind donations enabling 100 percent of donations to benefit charities.
All proceeds will go to seven different military related charities including Honor Flight Columbus, Ohio Warriors Scholarship Fund, Goodwill Columbus’s Project Go, Canine Companions for Independence’s Wounded Veterans Initiative, Ohio Combat Veterans and the Gary Sinise Foundation.
In 2012, Honor Ride Ohio raised $15,000 for five veteran’s groups and hopes to reach their goal of $30,000 this year.
