The return of Rick Springfield is spreading to Columbus as Springfield’s tour lands on the stage at Eldorado Scioto Downs on June 25. It’s a show that will have you wanting “Jessie’s Girl” or maybe “An Affair of the Heart.”
Springfield, an iconic power-pop star, actor and author, will not be restricted to nostalgia, though. Since his widespread claim to fame, Springfield has continued to produce new content.
In February of this year, Springfield released his latest studio album, Rocket Science. The album fuses the familiar early ’80s rock vibe that made Springfield famous with new age and country influences. It’s an album that nods to the past, yet runs headlong into the future.
Throughout his career, Springfield has sold millions of albums; but, in true renaissance-man fashion, Springfield has also dabbled in other fields.
As an actor, he has been on programs ranging from the original Battlestar Galactica television series to his leading role as Dr. Noah Drake in General Hospital. In 2005, Springfield returned to General Hospital after a 23-year absence and has continued to appear as a guest star.
Springfield’s autobiography, Late, Late at Night: a Memoir, was published in 2010 and has since been named one of the 25 greatest rock memoirs of all time by Rolling Stone, as well as a New York Times Best Seller.
The doors for Springfield’s concert on Saturday open at 7 p.m. with a VIP pre-party at 5:30. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are available at the Scioto Downs website. All attendants must be at least 21 years old. For more information, contact Eldorado Scioto Downs at 614-295-4700.
