On May 1, R&B singer-songwriters Fantasia and Anthony Hamilton will stop in Columbus along their joint tour to perform at the Palace Theatre.
Fantasia, called the Queen of Rock Soul, rose to fame as the winner of the third season of American Idol in 2004. She promptly released her premier single “I Believe,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The performance on May 1 predates the release of Fantasia’s fifth studio album, titled The Definition Of… on June 10.
Fantasia is a woman of many hats, making various television appearances including as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race and in Broadway productions The Color Purple in 2007 and After Midnight from 2013-2014.
Anthony Hamilton is a Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter and record producer. Hamilton’s second studio album Comin’ from Where I’m From sold platinum upon its release in 2003. He has been nominated for 16 Grammys and his song Freedom was on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for the 2012 film Django Unchained.
Hamilton boasts nine albums since his start in the music industry in 1993. Hamilton won the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for his song You’ve Got the Love I Need with Al Green and has collaborated with such names as 2Pac, Santana and Chris Brown.
During their tour, Fantasia and Hamilton alternate in the order of who performs. For the Palace Theatre show, Fantasia will close the show.
