The North Market will have its first Happiest of Hours event on Sept. 2 from 4-7 p.m. to celebrate its new Sip and Stroll policy.
The event will feature entertainment courtesy of Scotty Boombox, drink specials from Barrel and Bottle and dining specials from various merchants throughout the Market.
Happiest of Hours on Saturday marks the first time shoppers at the North Market will be able to take drinks bought at Barrel and Bottle and browse the rest of the market. Before legislation was recently passed by the Ohio General Assembly, patrons of the beer and wine vendor were required to finish their beverages in the Barrel and Bottle retail space.
Barrel and Bottle, owned by Jen Burton and Collin Castore, is the only vendor at the North Market that sells alcoholic drinks. Burton’s love of wine and Castore’s love of beer inspired these childhood friends to open the shop. As self-proclaimed foodies, the duo is busy coming up with new food and wine pairings.
The North Market was established in Columbus in 1876 and remains the city’s last true public market. Its more than 30 merchants offer a wide array of prepared meals, fresh meat and produce, one of a kind cookware and much more.
Popular vendors include Hot Chicken Takeover, which serves Nashville-style fried chicken; Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, known throughout Columbus for its out-of-the-box flavor concoctions and Market & Boar (Holy Smoke BBQ).
Happiest of Hours will continue Tuesday-Friday from 4-7 p.m. throughout September. For more information look online at northmarket.com or call 614-463-9664.
