The North Market is a great one-stop spot for fresh, quality food on the worst of days, but the proverbial cornucopia will be especially full on Aug. 15, when the North Market will be holding its 24th Annual Farmers’ Festival.
The Farmers’ Festival takes place at the height of the Ohio growing season and is a celebration of the North Market Farmers’ Market, which is the oldest and one of the largest farmers markets in Central Ohio. The festival will feature fresh produce, flowers and honey from more than 20 local farms and vendors, including Anderson Orchard, Cooke Forest Edibles and Medicinals, Honeyrun Farm and many others
There is also a full schedule of events which will take place throughout the day. For any bakers or canning enthusiasts in attendance, there will be a homemade jam and jelly contest and an apple pie baking contest, which will take place at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., respectively. The winner of each contest will receive a North Market swag bag filled with goodies including $50 in gift certificates. Registration for these contests is limited to 12 participants, and you can register at northmarket.com.
Other events taking place during the festival include a canning workshop with Jeannie Seabrook of the Glass Rooster Cannery, “Touch a Tractor” presented by JD Equipment, a children's activity area sponsored by Fruit Shoot and free entertainment.
This year's Farmers’ Festival is presented by Master Clean and will take place from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
