For its 55th Anniversary Celebration, the longest running jazz festival in the world is coming to Columbus as part of the 2013 tour. Founded in 1958, the jazz festival has featured many of the world's most famous jazz artists such as Billie Holiday, Louie Armstrong, Esperanza Spaulding, and Trombone Shorty. The festival is known around the world for its continued artistic greatness, casual yet elegant atmosphere, and its dedication to construct and fostering continued jazz education and performance programs at all levels.
This year's tour features Grammy ® award winning artists including bassist and musical director Christian McBride, vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, saxohonist Christ Potter, trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, pianist Benny Green, and drummer Lewish Nash. The performance will include a selection of class jazz pieces along with original compositions by the band.
