Nearly 90 Ohio artists, crafters, inventors, entrepreneurs and food artisans, as well as a silent auction, will be featured at Made LOCAL Marketplace’s Almost Autumn event, held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Bridgewater Banquet Center.
“As the owner of a locally focused store that works with over 250 Ohio vendors, I heard a lot of complaints about local shows/shopping events,” Ohio Creative Collective Founder and Made LOCAL Marketplace Show Host Andrea Archibald says. “I set out to organize an event with the makers in mind, and it became a great opportunity to give back to the community at the same time.”
For each table at the Almost Autumn event, Ohio Creative Collective will donate a portion of the table earnings to a different nonprofit organization.
Many organizations have items that will be included in the silent auction, such as City Barbecue, Hot Chicken Takeover, Z Cucina, Donato’s and Simply Vague.
Vendors come from all over Ohio, as they will include not only several Columbus restaurants and shops, but also Tubows, Glitteracy, Ridiculously Good Salsa, and many more.
Shoppers can buy a wide variety of items, including accessories, apparel and even baby items and home decorations.
Attendees will be able to see several inventions and innovations here as well. Kapotas Design will be in attendance, showing wallets with reusable micro suction. The Jones Market will have “tuggable” necklaces with non-toxic beads for moms to wear safely around their children.
Archibald says that “everything from food innovations like Torlitas, chocolate covered tortilla chips, to Tac Board, a new shopping app” will be there.
Past events have benefitted many organizations, such as the Nationwide Children’s Hospital, The Sam Bush Foundation, Miracle for Madison and Friends and many others. This year, the event will benefit Flying Horse Farms, which is a camp that helps children with life-threatening illnesses have amazing experiences.
Archibald says 100 percent of the proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Flying Horse Farms.
Archibald chose Flying Horse Farms as the benefit charity when she and her husband, Nate, were invited to take a tour of the camp by the Chief Communications Officer Kristy Eckert, a long time supporter of Made LOCAL Marketplace show. During this tour, Archibald and her husband really enjoyed themselves and wanted to offer their support.
“Needless to say, we fell in love,” Archibald says.
The event will also feature live music from 18-year-old singer and songwriter John Tucker at 10:30 a.m. A mini fashion show with Buckeye-themed looks will be featured on Good Day Columbus at 9:30 a.m.
