It’s a blast from the past. I Love the 90’s Tour comes to the Schottenstein Center this Sunday, Nov. 13.
The tour will feature all the best R&B and hip hop artists from the ’90s, and will be headlined by Vanilla Ice (“Ice Ice Baby,” “Play that Funky Music”) and Salt-N-Pepa (“Shoop,” “Push It”). Kid ‘n Play, Coolio, All 4 One and Young MC will also perform. Ticketholders will reminisce about the trend-setters from the ’80s and ’90s who paved the way for contemporary artists as well as dance to some of the greatest songs from the era.
Vanilla Ice is known as one of the earliest successful white rappers and was part of the development of the rap metal genre alongside Beastie Boys and Run-D.M.C. His 1990 single “Ice Ice Baby” was the first hip hop single to top the Billboard charts.
Salt-N-Pepa made history alongside Vanilla Ice, as one of the first all-female rap groups. Consisting of Cheryl James (Salt), Sandra Denton (Pepa) and their DJ, Deidra Roper (Spinderella), the trio found major success, with a 1995 Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group and three previous Grammy nominations.
The I Love the 90’s Tour will also make stops across the U.S. in New Orleans, New York, Florida and Illinois, among other locations.
I Love the 90’s Tour takes a stop in Columbus at the Schottenstein Center on Nov. 13. Tickets start at $20, and can be purchased from Ticketmaster by clicking here. For more information about the I Love the 90’s Tour, click here.
