Old-Time Harvest Day
The Southwest Franklin County Historical Society and Grove City feature the annual Old-Time Harvest Day. This event gives the people of Grove City the opportunity to experience the 19th century. Friends and neighbors alike will work together to prepare for the winter season by crafting, churning butter, and pumping well water.
Old-Time Harvest Day is also offering the viewing of historical buildings that include a log cabin, a windmill, barns and a one-room schoolhouse. At each historical building spot, there will also be demonstrations of the music taste of the era as well as the homemade cooking. The blacksmith shop will even be showing a metalworking demonstration.
This year, Grove City is also including the sesquicentennial celebration from the petition of Franklin County and State of Ohio officials. This special celebration at Old-Time Harvest Day will include storytelling and fun activities for all ages to celebrate the history of the last 150 years.
The Old-Time Harvest Day free of admission and parking and is located at Century Village in Fryer Park. The event will be held Oct. 2 from 1-5 p.m. For more information visit www.grovecityohio.gov/topic/old-time-harvest-day/.
