Sundays at Scioto heads into its second week and, this time, The Gold Magnolias will take center stage.
Armed with sax and sass, the five-piece funk band from Brooklyn brings bass, rhythm and smooth vocals together to create a toe-tapping show to remember.
Their southern soul sound and groovy beats derive themselves from the deep roots of the band. A few members were originally from Texas, but moved to a primarily African American neighborhood in New York, where they found a new tone for their tunes.
They have attitude. They have funk. They have songs about dirty French fries. They are the Gold Magnolias and they’re here for one night only.
The Sundays and Scioto concert series is hosted each Sunday throughout the summer at Scioto Park, starting at 7 p.m.
