Sunday marks the final day We’ll Have Manhattan and The Picture of Health, two exhibits at the Ohio Glass Museum, are available for viewing.
We’ll Have Manhattan, an exhibit that began May 21, is a collection of Christopher P. Rider’s Manhattan glass pattern from 1938-1943. The pieces on display were created at Anchor Hocking Glass Company located in Lancaster.
The Picture of Health showcases different items from the past that were used by Lancaster’s local hospital to provide health care to the community. The exhibit shows the importance of glass in the medical field, both past and present, and will take the visitor on a journey to the past.
The American Scientific Glassblowers Society has also added other medical items to be shown with the exhibit, and books available for reading in the exhibit add context to the glass pieces on display.
The Ohio Glass Museum, established in 2006 and located in Lancaster, offers glass pieces created in-house for sale in the gift shop.
If you are interested in learning how glassware is made, classes in glass blowing and flame-working can be scheduled by appointment for a small fee.
The Ohio Glass Museum and its exhibits are open Tuesday-Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Admission into the We’ll Have Manhattan exhibit is free. Standard admission into the rest of the museum, including The Picture of Health, is $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $3 for ages 6-18.
