Shadowbox Live’s Gallery of Echoes: The CMA Experience will return Sept. 6 for a free performance at the Columbus Commons.
The performance starts at 8 p.m. The opening act, Donna Mogavero, takes the stage at 7 p.m.
The collaboration between the local theater company and the Columbus Museum of Art premiered in spring 2014 to favorable reviews from audiences and critics alike. It returned to Shadowbox Live in the fall due to demand, winning an Artistic Excellence Award from the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
Gallery of Echoes is multimedia journey into 21 pieces from the museum’s permanent
collection. Each artwork is captured in an immersive video that highlights details from the work previously unnoticed.
Dances choreographed by Shadowbox Live’s Katy Psenicka are also part of the experience. The videos are accompanied by original music written by the Shadowbox Live band, Light.
“If there is one thing we know for sure,” says Shadowbox Live Executive Director and CEO Stev Guyer in a written statement, “it’s that this particular show needs to be seen by as many people as possible. It is just that powerful.”
Columbus Commons has a seating capacity of 10,000.
“It’s a gorgeous outdoor venue,” Guyer says. “We’re lucky to have it in Columbus, and we couldn’t be more excited to be able to perform Gallery of Echoes there.”
Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. Coolers should stay at home. For more Columbus Commons regulations, visit columbuscommons.org. For more information on Shadowbox Live, visit shadowboxlive.org.
