Halloween may be well in the past, but this weekend, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra is offering another chance for kids to dress up.
On April 19 at Capitol Theatre, kids ages 3-10 can dress as fairytale characters for a special Cinderella-themed event.
Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev's ballet, Cinderella, will be performed by conductor Albert-George Schram and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. The concert begins at 3 p.m., but pre-concert activities start at 2 p.m. in the Capitol Theatre Lobby. Children can play instruments from Music & Arts Centers and The Loft Violin Shop, make crafts with the Columbus Museum of Art, get musical temporary tattoos and meet the CSO musicians and Sunny 95's Mr. Sunny.
The 3 p.m. concert includes the following songs:
- Dvořák, Slavonic Dance No. 1
- Fillmore, Lassus Trombone
- Frost, Jack and Jill
- Frost, Down by the Bay
- Prokofiev, Cinderella
- Frost, Sing When the Spirit Says Sing
- Menken/Healey, Disney Classics Overture
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children. Those interested can purchase tickets at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), Ticketmaster outlets and www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets can also be purchased via phone at 614-228-8600 or 800-745-3000.
