Join the Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra in celebrating their 25th anniversary with a performance by the Aaron Diehl Trio on Saturday, April 23.
Aaron Diehl, an internationally renowned jazz pianist, makes his way back to his hometown of Columbus with his trio to perform with past and present members of the CYJO to celebrate 25 years together.
Diehl attended St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus before moving on to study at Capital University and then The Juilliard School.
Diehl’s trio consists of drummer Lawrence Leathers and bassist Paul Sikivie.
Vanity Fair cited Diehl as one of the “millennials shaking up the jazz world.” Diehl has been praised by critics in both the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.
There will be a pre-show reception from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Theatre Ballroom. Guests will be able to meet and mingle with past and present members of the CYJO and their families along with Diehl, CYJO Director Mark Donavan and CYJO Founder Todd Stohl, who is also the current Vice President of Education for Jazz at Lincoln Center.
The concert will start at 8 p.m. in the Lincoln Center Auditorium.
