The CAPA Summer Movie Series will kick off the 46th anniversary of classic films this weekend with Singin' in the Rain.
The movie is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on June 10 at the Ohio Theatre.
At the event, Clark Wilson, the official organist for the CAPA Summer Movie Series will also be celebrating his 25th year with the series. The award-winning organist, who is an expert at both playing and installing organs, will be playing the Ohio Theatre's "Mighty Morton" theater organ for 30 minutes leading up to the start of the movie and during intermission.
The classic 1952 film stars Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds and is considered by some as one of the greatest of all Hollywood musicals. With unforgettable songs such as "Good Morning," "Make 'Em Laugh" and of course, Kelly's unforgettable routine to the title song, the screening is sure to please.
Those planning to take advantage of more than one screening or treat friends can save by purchasing strips of 10 tickets, which are available for $25. These are available online via Ticketmaster or at the CAPA ticket center.
Young people ages 13-18 can purchase a pass for $5, which affords them the opportunity to go to an unlimited number of screenings for the 2016 season. Passes are available via gofor5.com.
More to come during the Summer Movie Series, which runs through August 7, are classics such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Sleeper and The Princess Bride. The series ends on August 7 with the spellbinding 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz.
Same-day tickets are available for $4 or $3.50 for senior citizens, starting one hour before the show at the Ohio Theatre kiosk.
All tickets are general admission and seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Screenings are also set for June 11 at 7:30 p.m. and June 12 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
