BalletMet
On May 1, BalletMet will debut its final production of the season.
Running for one weekend only, American Masters celebrates acclaimed artists in music, choreography and dance, and features four ballets by choreographers James Kudelka, Edwaard Liang, David Nixon and Jerome Robbins - all of whom have a rich history of recognition and success.
The ballets choreographed by Kudelka, Liang and Nixon are world premiere performances, while Robbins’ Fancy Free is a classic ballet that will conclude the evening.
BalletMet’s talented troop of dancers will perform to the music of Aaron Copland, Caroline Shaw, Michael Torke and Leonard Bernstein - some for the last time. American Masters will be dancers Jimmy Orrante’s and Carrie West’s final performance, and the show will honor and celebrate the pair’s successful careers with BalletMet. In honor of Orrante’s longtime career, Nixon choreographed a world premiere performance specifically for Orrante to debut during American Masters.
American Masters will run from May 1-3 at the Ohio Theatre, 39 E. State St. Tickets start at $29 and can be purchased at the CAPA Ticket Center, all Ticketmaster outlets or the BalletMet Box Office. The three shows are scheduled for:
- Friday, May 1, at 8 p.m.
- Saturday, May 2, at 8 p.m.
- Sunday, May 3, at 1 p.m.
