
If your idea of a great date is listening to some good classic rock, there's something for you and your special someone to do this Valentine’s Day. Dennis DeYoung and his band will be performing a tribute to rock band Styx at the McCoy Center for the Performing Arts.
If you’re a Styx fan, you know who Dennis DeYoung is. If you aren’t a Styx fan, you may not know the name. But you'll know his work. For over 20 years, DeYoung was lead vocalist and keyboardist for Styx. He even wrote some of their most famous hits- including Come Sail Away, Mr. Roboto, and Babe.
DeYoung’s work in Styx and his solo career have undoubtedly been a part of your life. Styx was a powerhouse over its duration as a band, and its legacy have continued far beyond its hay day. DeYoung’s songs have been used in movies such as Detroit Rock City, Fun With Dick and Jane, Disney’s Atlantis and Shrek II.
Valentine’s Day is your chance to see DeYoung live and in person with his own band, formed in 2010. The band keeps the songs of Styx alive, performing concerts around the world. Fans can expect beloved songs such as Renegade, Come Sail Away, Blue Collar Man and Lady.
Dennis DeYoung: The Music of Styx will take place at 8 p.m. on Feb. 14 at the Jeanne B. McCoy Center for the Arts. Tickets are on sale through CAPA and via Ticketmaster, and will range from $35-$50.
