Take it way back to the Old Testament with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Mendelssohn’s Oratorio, Elijah on April 1 and 2 at the Ohio Theatre at 8 p.m., conducted by Rossen Milanov from Bulgaria.
Elijah tells the story of the Biblical prophet charged with bringing Israel back into God’s fold.
Featured artists include Martha Guth, soprano; Margaret Mezzacappa, mezzo-soprano; Jonas Marcel Hacker, tenor; André Courville, baritone and Jeremy Hardjono, boy soprano.
The symphony will also be joined by the Columbus Symphony Chorus, directed by Ronald Jenkins.
Both performances will begin with a talk by Christopher Purdy, broadcaster for WOSU Classical 101, who will take a deeper look at Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
After the performances, stay for a post-concert discussion with Milanov and the featured soloists from the performance.
