New Albany Symphony Orchestra is bringing the red, white and blue in February with Shall We Dance: An American Salute.
The Orchestra is teaming up with Top Line Ballroom Dance Studio and Fred Astaire Dance Studio to give tribute to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces at 3 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Schottenstein Theatre of the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts.
Several pieces in the repertoire will be included to honor veterans in the audience, five of which will feature a dance performance by a two-person team of a professional dancer and a community dancer. The dance genres will be taken from the Big Band period and include swing, fox trot and tango.
Taking the stage after winning the Symphony’s 2014-15 Student Voice competition will be Colin Sproule, a New Albany High sophomore, who will perform Gershwin’s They Can’t Take that Away from Me.
Tickets are available by phone at 614-469-0939, online at www.ticketmaster.com, and in person at any Ticketmaster outlet. Tickets will also become available one hour before the show starts at the McCoy Center for the Arts.
