The Columbus Arts Festival returns June 10-12 at the Columbus Commons, and once again brings with it a unique theatrical project. The festival is teaming up with Shadowbox Live to present Gallery of Echoes: ColumbUS Public Art Project.
Gallery of Echoes is an innovative meta-performance involving multiple facets of art including dance, music, theater and media projections. The newest show, The ColumbUS Public Art Project, will feature only Columbus-based artists, highlighting the work of 20 visual artists.
The artwork will be projected onto three giant high-resolution screens, along with videos that allow the audience to explore how each piece was created. Complementing the work will be an original music score, dance and spoken word which will interpret the pieces.
This is the second time the festival and Shadowbox have collaborated together for Gallery of Echoes. The first show in the series, The CMA Experience, was performed in 2014. The piece was an exploration of work from the Columbus Museum of Art’s collection.
Gallery of Echoes: The ColumbUS Public Art Project will be performed on the ABC6 Main Stage on June 10 and 11. Both performances begin at 9 p.m.
Shadowbox Live will present additional performances of Gallery of Echoes at Shadowbox June 15-19. Tickets will cost $40, with prices going down to $10 for a special lunch matinee. Times for the performances will vary. The artwork will be on display at the Vanderelli Room from June 4-26.
