Christmas might be over, but there’s still time left to enjoy the tale of the Christmas story.
Opera Project Columbus will present Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, a one-act opera that tells the story of the Christian Epiphany, 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8 and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Lincoln Theatre, 769 E. Long St.
Amahl and the Night Visitors follows the journey of the Three Kings to visit the Christ child from the point of view of a poor boy and his mother. The role of Amahl will be played by two boy sopranos: Luke Peart, who sang the part of Amahl in a 2012 production of the opera, and Jeremy Hardjano. Each will perform the role for one night.

The production will also feature Ottorino Respighi’s orchestral composition “Adoration of the Magi” as a prelude to the opera.
The show will be fully staged and will be accompanied by the OPC Orchestra, led by Maestro Alessandro Siciliani in the pit of the Lincoln Theatre. Amahl and the Night Visitors will be Executive Director Zeke Rettman’s first production with Opera Project Columbus. Rettman, an alumnus of The Ohio State University, returns to Columbus after 20 years of theatre experience in Los Angeles.
Tickets for the show are available at any Ticketmaster location. Tickets can also be purchased by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or by calling the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts box office at 614-469-0939.
