The New Albany Symphony Orchestra is celebrating the silver screen during its Holiday Spectacular, held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 20 at the Schottenstein Theater of the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts.
Featuring songs from classic holiday movies, the show will include songs from Polar Express, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. Old standbys including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Jingle Bells” will also be featured. Opera Columbus singers will perform, and Classical 101’s Christopher Purdy will also make an appearance. The show will be conducted by Music Director Luis Biava. Santa Claus might also visit.
“We are always thinking of ways to engage new audiences Executive Director Heather Garner says in a written statement. “Holiday movie music is traditional and timeless, and a common thread to the American holiday experience. We thought that a concert of holiday movie music would be a terrific way to celebrate the season in a very family-oriented way.”
