Come dance ‘til you can’t dance any longer! The Jazz Arts Group kicks off its 2016-2017 Swingin’ with the CJO concert series with a performance of New Orleans on Parade on Oct. 20-23. The “parade” will feature guest performers Evan Christopher and Jamison Ross. Christopher, a world-renowned New Orleans-based clarinetist, will join the CJO along with Ross, who is a Grammy Award nominee. Currently, Ross doubles as a jazz competitor and a vocalist. Don’t miss the opportunity to see these performers on Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 21-22 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 23 at 3 p.m.
At 7 p.m. on Oct. 20, the community jazz band will perform. The Jazz Arts Group will allow instrumentalists with experience to join the community jazz band. Aspiring performers must register on the Jazz Arts Group website. Not only is the performance a community effort, led by the Jazz Arts Group, it will inspire and encourage any instrumentalist to get back into the swing of things, if you will.
