A work of art’s value can be appraised and debated, but the people who purvey and promote the arts are priceless to the community.
That’s why the Ohio Arts Council will honor six different people and organizations that make the arts environment as robust and alive as possible throughout the state.
The 2014 Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio luncheon will be hosted May 21, starting at 11 a.m. at The Columbus Athenaeum.
Honorees include Sherri Geldin of the Wexner Center for the Arts, Sheri Williams of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Neal Gittleman of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and more.
Works by Ohio painter Steven Walker will be awarded to the honorees.
All proceeds from the event go to the Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation.
