This year, the Short North district’s very own Yoga on High will be hosting a community potluck and talent show for interested residents. On July 16 at 7:30 p.m. visitors can watch the local talent demonstrate their skills while enjoying a great vegetarian smorgasbord.
This not-quite-annual event was first started around 2002-03 after Marsha Miller had the idea to host a Yoga on High patron event. Miller, one of the owners of the establishment, wanted to create a fun opportunity that could build relationships and community within the company’s supporters.
The summertime potluck and talent show is mainly for Yoga on High patrons, but other members of the neighborhood are welcome to come and enjoy the show. So far a belly dancer, a comedian, and an organized dance troupe have signed on to participate in the talent show, and many more guests are expected to register. Contestants will have around five minutes to showcase their talent, and pre-registration is required at the front desk before July 16.
As popularity demanded another summer fling, Yoga on High can’t wait to see their students’ and patrons’ talent. Guests should bring a covered vegetarian dish to share with their fellow yogis, and should also be prepared to share lots of laughter and good times with the audience. Don’t feel bad about skipping your nightly meditation; visiting this fun, casual event will be just as good for the soul.
