What the Fuzz is All About
Avenue Q makes Columbus debut

AVENUE Q, Broadway's smash-hit 2004 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, will set up shop at the Palace Theatre from April 8-13.

Tickets are now on sale at www.BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com, www.ticketmaster.com, or 614-431-3600.

Avenue Q has been called "one of the funniest shows you're ever likely to see" by Entertainment Weekly and a "breakthrough musical of a very different stripe. Savvy, sassy and delicions," by the New York Times.

The production features a cast of people and puppets surrounding the lead of Princeton, a college graduate who arrives in New York City with big dreams and a small bank account.

Princeton soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is Avenue Q. His neighbors include the diverse group of Brian, an out-of-work comedian and his therapist fiancee Christmas Eve; Nicky, a good-hearted slacker and his roommate Rod, a Republican investment banker; Trekkie Monster, an Internet addict; and a kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate.

Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life. The smart, risque, and humorously entertaining story sticks to the universal theme of "It sucks to be me ..."

Avenue Q is itself an overcoming-the-odds story of becoming a Broadway hit. Produced by Robyn Goodman, Kevin McCollum and Jeffrey Seller of Rent fame, it began life at New York City's downtown Vineyard Theatre, where it garnered rave reviews and was extended four times.

The show also benchmarked the careers of its creators, Jeff Marx, Robert Lopez and Jeff Whitty, all of whom made their Broadway debuts and won Tony Awards for their work.

Avenue Q addresses issues such as sex, drinking and Web porn, and may not be appropriate for young children. Parental discretion is advised.
