Internationally-acclaimed composer Eric Whitacre performing at Capital University

Internationally-acclaimed composer Eric Whitacre will conduct a concert featuring many of his works at Capital University on March 3. Whitacre, who at 38 has become one of the most popular and performed composers of his generation, will lead more than 300 singers in a magnificent performance featuring his renowned compositions.

 

Joining Whitacre is celebrated American poet Charles Anthony Silvestri (Sleep, Leonardo Dreams, Lux Aurumque, Her Sacred Spirit Soars).


The Capital University Invitational featuring Eric Whitacre will include performances by Capital University’s premiere chorale ensemble, The Chapel Choir, and select local high school choirs. Participation in this event is by invitation only to ensure highest artistic
excellence.

 

Invited choirs will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform individually with Whitacre, as well as in the combined mass choir of more than 300 voices.


Many of Whitacre’s pieces have entered the standard repertoire. To date his works have
sold more than 600,000 copies worldwide. A variety of Whitacre’s works will be performed, including such classics as Lux Aurumque, Water Night, and Sleep, and several more recent favorites, including A Boy and a Girl and This Marriage. The concert will be rounded out with the beautiful Five Hebrew Love Songs and the hilarious, brand new Animal Crackers.


The Capital University Invitational featuring Eric Whitacre will be held in
Mees Hall at Capital University located at 1 College and Main Street. The
single performance will be at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3.
