The Upper Arlington Historical Society will host a free walking tour through Old Arlington beginning at 10 a.m. Nov. 29.
The tour, which will last approximately 90 minutes, will take participants through the historic district, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The tour will be led by Kate Matheny, former director of Columbus Landmarks and a long-time Upper Arlington resident. During the tour, Matheny will discuss colorful stories of early UA residents and the design philosophy behind the city's original planned development and its significance in architecture. Tour participants will also learn about different architectural styles, building materials, landscape and street patterns and more.
The tour will leave from the Miller Park Library at 10 a.m. Registration is requested, but not necessary, and the tour is free. For more information or to register for the tour, call the UA Historical Society at 614-470-2610.
