The Columbus Symphony's 2007-2008 Huntington Columbus Symphony Pops series will feature six concerts with Broadway flavor, returning favorites, smooth harmonies, and “The Columbus Symphony Sing-off.” Prepare yourself for a season of outstanding performances and spectacular music at the Ohio Theatre!
Broadway Divas II will start the series off on September 14 and 15. These ladies of the Great White Way return to Columbus to perform some of Broadway’s top hits. The Lettermen come to town with their smooth harmonies on October 26 and 27. Holiday Pops with the Columbus Symphony is a timeless classic. Get into the spirit November 30 to December 2 at the Ohio Theatre. The Columbus Symphony tips their hat to the songs of Broadway and beloved movie scores in our Awards Night celebration February 15 and 16. Former member of the Irish Tenors, Ronan Tynan shares his inspirational voice and the stage of the Ohio Theatre with the Columbus Symphony March 21 and 22. Rounding out the series, multi-award winner Marvin Hamlisch returns for a night a musical “memories” May 30 and 31.
New this season is “The Columbus Symphony Sing-off.” In the style of American Idol, anyone will be able to audition and compete. Semifinalists will “sing-off” in three rounds during our Huntington Columbus Symphony Pops Season. Finalists will perform with Marvin Hamlisch, and the grand-prize winner will sing with the Symphony on a select 2008 Picnic with the Pops concert.
A special event is John Williams Conducts John Williams! On September 26, hear Star Wars, Harry Potter, E.T., and more, conducted by the famed film composer. To add to the excitement, special film montages will be projected onto screens while the orchestra performs.
