The Dublin Chamber of Commerce board of directors announced in a Feb. 20 press release that Tim Picciano, owner of the Dublin Village Tavern, has been named the 2009 Business Person of the Year.
Since 1985, the award has been presented annually to someone who has positively contributed to the Dublin business community. The award recipient demonstrates superior leadership and service to Dublin.
Picciano is the owner of Dublin Village Tavern, and co-owner of the Liberty Tavern in Historic Powell. He is also on the advisory board of the Dublin Irish Festival.
“I never would have envisioned this,” Picciano says of the award. “It certainly is an honor. I’m very humbled and honored. It’s something I’ve never even thought about. I appreciate being nominated and was certainly not looking for this kind of recognition.”
Picciano’s entrepreneurial spirit also shows in his contributions to help start the Historic Dublin Business Association (HDBA) in 2003. He recently completed a two year term as president of the HDBA. During his tenure he helped start the popular Sláinte Thursday series that attracts people to the historic district.
“Tim is a pillar of community strength in Dublin and we’re so lucky to have his talents close to home,” says Dublin Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Margery Amorose. “He is a huge advocate of the business community and always available to lend a hand.”
Picciano resides in Dublin with his wife Cynthia. Their children - Gina, Tony and Nick - comprised the first set of triplets to attend Dublin City Schools.
