An explosion in China that destroyed 20 fireworks warehouses in February won't dampen the festivities in downtown Columbus. It's fireworks as usual--but in a new location.
This July 3rd Red, White and BOOM! will make its debut at Veteran’s Memorial featuring new views, live bands, food and, of course, fireworks.
The daylong celebration begins at 10 a.m. on Long Street and fireworks will shower the sky at 10 p.m. While you wait, take your kids to the Children’s Park presented by Columbia Gas and COSI located in Battelle Park.
A wide range of interactive and educational programming awaits you and the offspring alongside face painting and Millennium Mobile DJ. At 4 p.m. experience the Taste of BOOM! on Nationwide Boulevard featuring Frog Bear & Wild Boar and other food from Columbus’ top restaurants. Enjoy live music showcasing local bands and interactive games from the Blue Jackets and the Columbus Crew. Why not celebrate the Independence of our nation with anarchy in the street? The 25th annual Doo Dah Parade will take place this Fourth of July at 1 p.m. with the lineup at 12 p.m. following this pseudo Mardi Gras in Ohio, continue the festivities by playing in the street at the “After Doo Dah Parade- Block Party!” High street will be closed between Buttles and Russell.
Columbus’ former Mayor Dana G. “Buck” Rinehart will assume his role as the Less-Than-Grand Marshall for this year’s celebration.
