The chair of the 2006 Greater Columbus WalkAmerica is Doug Borror, Chairman and CEO of Dominion Homes.
”Please join me in WalkAmerica and help save babies from premature birth. We don’t know why it happens, but too many babies are born too early. It could happen to anyone’s baby, just like the son of a close friend of mine,” Borror says.
WalkAmerica is the first and best walking event in the nation. It all began here in Columbus in 1970. Since then, WalkAmerica has raised over $1.1 billion. In Columbus, thousands of walkers participate in this fun-filled day of walking to raise money for the prevention of birth defects and the reduction of infant mortality.
In 2006, about 2,500 people stepped up to the challenge and raised more than $380,000 for healthier babies. This year's goal is $427,000. More than 3,000 walkers are expected to participate.
Volunteers are needed to fulfill a variety of positions.
