Speaking of Moves ...
The 2008 OhioDance Festival will take place March 7-9 at The Ohio State University. The event is co-sponsored by OSU's Department of Dance.
It will include two days of classes, workshops and panel discussions. Special features include Guest Speaker Claire Porter who will teach a master class in Text and Movement. Kevin Ward receives the OhioDance award for Outstanding contributions to the Dance Artform and will also teach a Contemporary master class. Louise Guthman receives the award for Outstanding contributions to Dance Education.
A panel discussion on Dancer Health Initiatives will take place after the awards luncheon on Saturday, March 8 from 1 to 2 p.m. at OSU's faculty club. Panelists include Karen Potter, Gary Galbraith, Shannon Sterne all from Case Western Reserve University and Michael Kelly Bruce from OSU.
On Friday, March 7 from 1 to 2 p.m. is a Young People’s concert.
On Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. is the OhioDance Showcase. All concerts will be held in Sullivant Theatre on the OSU campus and are open to the public.
Also on Friday, March 7 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. a demonstration and discussion will be held at the EMMA Lab at ACCAD. The EMMA (Experimental Media and Movement Arts) Lab is a project of dance and the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design.
And on Sunday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is a professional audition for statewide companies and educational institutions recruiting new dancers. This audition will be held at Sullivant Hall.
