Pop music icon Billy Joel’s North American tour resumes this month with a handful of dates added in selected cities across the country. Nationwide Arena will host Billy Joel’s triumphant return to Columbus for one night only at Nationwide Arena on Sunday, April 20 at 8 p.m.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office and through Ticketmaster.
Since 2006, when Billy Joel kicked off a worldwide tour that took him through North America, Europe, South Africa, Australia and Japan, nearly 1 million people have seen the superstar return to the stage in peak form, delivering more than two hours of hits each night.
The tour has broken several house records along the way, including a record 22nd lifetime appearance at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Conn., a sixth record sellout at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. and, in what is sure to be a record not broken anytime soon, a historic and unprecedented 12-show, sold-out run at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden. The exceptional run at Madison Square Garden yielded the Columbia Records collection 12 Gardens Live, which features greatest hits and fan favorites alike.
In February 2007, as a Valentine’s Day present to his wife, Billy Joel released All My Life, the first new pop music since his five-time platinum, Grammy-nominated album, River of Dreams, was released in 1993.
The end of the year saw the live debut of the recently-penned Christmas in Fallujah, an unflinching and poignant take on what it’s like to be a member of the military right now.
As part of his long-term commitment to music education, Billy Joel has launched an ongoing initiative to provide gifts of seed money, musical scholarships, and endowments to a variety of East Coast colleges, universities and music schools.
Tickets are $97 and $51.50 (includes facility fee). Tickets are available at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office, at all Ticketmaster ticket centers, online at www.ticketmaster.com and by phone at (614) 431-3600.
