Fans at the Westerville North versus Westerville Central high school lacrosse game May 6 will get a special musical treat. The Ohio State school for the Blind Marching Band, the country's only blind marching band, will perform at halftime, according to a press release.
The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. at the Westerville North stadium, 950 County Line Rd.
Formed in 2005, the marching band currently has 17 blind members, as well as approximately the same number of sighted marching assistants. Two of the band members are from Westerville. The band was recently invited to perform at the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif. The Westerville North lacrosse team will make a donation to the band and will ask for donations from the game's spectators to help offset costs for the band's Rose parade travel expenses.
