Wild Goose Creative's third annual New Year’s Festival is Dec. 31 to Jan. 3 at its location, 2491 Summit St. With artists from across Central Ohio, the festival features performances, workshops, art and food.
This year’s theme is 2010: The Future is Now, with a focus on science fiction. On New Year’s Eve, guests can enjoy performances by John Reuben, DJ Mattiburns and art installations by Maxe Smith, Michael Neno, Christen Nelson, Fuse Factory and Linzi Rigby, among others.
The event resumes the next three days with different workshops such as "LED Blink-Bugs" with Fuse Factory and "Book Binding" with Igloo Letterpress. There will also be shows by Theatre Daedalus and Columbus comedians presenting an Improv Jam for viewer enjoyment.
Also planned are performances by Matt Monta & the Hot Coal Band in addition to the Alwood Sisters. Finally, there will be film showings of Improv Legends, by Joel Veenstra, and a Local Shorts Revue at Studio 35.
This event sprung out of an impromptu gathering that has since turned into a New Year’s party. Members of Wild Goose Creative decided to continue it to give people a chance to get out and have something to do during the first few days of January since there aren’t many options in Columbus.
New this year, Wild Goose Creative is kicking off the event with a giant New Year’s CD release party for John Reuben. All who come will also receive a copy of his newest CD, Sex, Drugs, and Self-Control. In addition, Capital City Scooters will participate this year with presentations from Whistling in the Dark Theatre.
Tickets for the event have already gone on sale and cost $15. For more information or to purchase tickets visit www.wildgoosecreative.com.
