The Jazz Arts Group’s PBJ & Jazz concert series returns to the Lincoln Theatre Jan. 9 for a blues infused Saturday morning. The performance features 2007 International Blues Challenge (IBC) winner and Albert King Best Guitarist Award-winner Sean Carney.
A one-man ambassador for the blues, Columbus native Carney has brought his music all over the world, including Switzerland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Hungary, Ecuador and Costa Rica. He served three terms as president of the Columbus Blues Alliance, and promotes concerts as the creator of “Blues for a Cure,” an annual blues festival that has donated more than $23,000 towards cancer research.
PBJ & Jazz concerts are 1-hour long interactive concerts designed to introduce jazz and American music to young children and their families. Featuring some of Columbus’ finest musicians and ensembles, PBJ & Jazz concerts are hosted by former Columbus Music Hall owner and retired music educator Rebecca Ogden.
Remaining series performances include Mark Flugge and Kelly Crum Delaveris on Feb. 13 and Christian Howes in the season finale, The Cats and the Fiddle, on March 6. All concerts begin at 11 a.m.
PBJ & Jazz concerts are $5 per person at the door with a family maximum of $20. Children receive a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, juice and a cookie. The concerts are held in the ballroom in the Lincoln Theatre Complex, 769 E. Long Street. For more information, visit
